The heart of Plowboys BBQ is competition-style BBQ. It began in 2001 when Todd Johns and his brother-in-law, Randy Hinck, started the competition team Pork Pullin Plowboys.
For the next six years, Todd and Randy traveled all over the country participating in competitions, perfecting their craft and learning what makes truly great BBQ. (Hint: it’s all about low and slow.)
After over a decade of competitive BBQ, Todd opened Plowboys BBQ, a BBQ restaurant in Blue Springs, MO. Just a few years later, Plowboys opened their second restaurant in downtown Kansas City, MO. The third location opened in Overland Park, KS, in 2019.
Plowboys BBQ has become famous for its BBQ nachos, a knockout combination of freshly fried tortilla chips, sour cream, jalapenos, cheese sauce made in-house and, of course, slow-smoked pulled pork or brisket.
Alothough their resturants closed their doors in 202, Plowboy's iconic flavors and legacy lives on through their line of rubs and sauces.
