What started out as the Squeal Like a Pig BBQ team by brothers Mike and Joe Pearce has become a sit-down space built on the desire to create a product and customer experience with passion, perfection, and tradition. That a pair of brothers got to follow a dream of opening a BBQ restaurant was a nice bonus.

Squeal like a Pig BBQ was one of the teams featured on Destination America’s “BBQ Pitmasters,” earning a 2nd-place finish on the 5th season of the show. The team was also featured on Food Network’s “BBQ Brawl.” 

Slap’s BBQ restaurant opened in Kansas City in June 2014. Since the Pearces are committed to cooking fresh and putting their best BBQ on the plate, every day at Slap’s is a sell-out. 

Slap’s BBQ is one of just a handful of restaurants in KC that is actively competing on the KCBS circuit throughout the year. They stay in the game to remain sharp, relevant, and for the love of competition BBQ.
