Jason and Megan Day are the pitmasters behind Burnt Finger BBQ. Since its founding in 2008, Burnt Finger BBQ has racked up countless awards on the competition BBQ circuit, including numerous State Championships, 1st-place chicken at the prestigious American Royal World Series of Barbecue, and overall Top-10 finishes at the American Royal, Memphis in May, and World Food Championships.
Jason's signature recipe, Bacon Explosion™, was catapulted into viral stardom with a front-page feature in the New York Times. Named "the most downloaded recipe in the history of the Internet", Bacon Explosion has fans across the world. His debut cookbook, "BBQ Makes Everything Better", was named "The Best Barbecue Book in the World" by the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards.
Megan was the darling of Food Network's Chopped Grill Masters Season 4 by winning her preliminary round and besting all other pitmasters in the series finale.
Jason and Megan regularly appear on local and national television, including Fox & Friends, CNN, TODAY Show, Food Network, Cooking Channel, and many more.
They were most recently featured in “Smoke & Ribbons: A DocQmentary,” a film released through Amazon Prime Video (now available on all Amazon streaming services). The hour-long documentary follows the journey of two Kansas City-based BBQ teams as they compete in the American Royal World Series of Barbecue..
When not touring the competition circuit, Jason and Megan spend their time teaching, consulting, and promoting their line of authentic Kansas City-style BBQ products.
